The Civil and Electrical Design Section provides the highest quality design and project management services for Transportation Capital Improvement Projects within the City’s right-of-way. These projects include road, bridge, traffic signal and street lighting improvements to make the transportation system safer, more accessible and well connected. Civil and Electrical Design Section project managers guide these projects from initial planning and scoping activities through completion of construction activities.

Accessibility Solutions

The Civil and Electrical Design Section works closely with the Maintenance Services Division to address accessibility issues throughout the City in response to input from the residents with disabilities and other mobility concerns. Please see the the Public Right-of-Way Accessibility Program webpage to make a citizen accessibility request.

California Multi-Agency Benchmarking Participation

The City of Sacramento is a partner in the California Multi-Agency Benchmarking Study which is a collaborative effort that involves the sharing of ideas and data between several major cities in California. This report presents the findings of several key components of the study: performance benchmarking, best management practices (BMPs), and the online discussion forum.

The Civil and Electrical Design Section works closely with the Benchmarking Study partnership and consultants to track project delivery costs and share information and tools with other major California cities to help improve Capital Improvement Project delivery statewide.
