4TH STREET & I STREET INTERSECTION MODIFICATIONS (WEST SIDE ACCESS) PROJECT

Project Description

The project improvements at the 4th Street and I Street intersection consisted of reconstructing a private office complex driveway (south side of I Street) and constructing a driveway to create a new exit point out of the Amtrak Station, along the north side of I Street onto the existing ramp to I-5. A new traffic signal was added along with enhanced pedestrian crossings at this intersection.

Benefits

The project greatly improved pedestrian and bicyclist accessibility and vehicular circulation into and out of the Amtrak station while expanding the station’s parking capacity.

Costs and Funding

The total project cost was $2.5 million. Funding is provided by federal and local matching funds.

Updates

The project was completed in May 2013.
