Carlson Drive Improvements

Project Description
Community concerns over bicycle related accidents at the Carlson Drive and H Street intersection prompted the City to investigate the intersection and surrounding area. Based on the findings of the investigation, the City procured HSIP grant funding and initiated the project to make safety improvements within the project area. The proposed improvements include signal upgrades to improve visibility, additional signing, new crosswalks, marked green bike lanes to clarify lane channelization, bike boxes for left turns, and innovative new two-stage left turns for bicyclists.

The estimated total project cost is approximately $1.7 million (planning, design, and construction). The project is funded primarily through Federal Highway Safety Improvement Program grant funds with matching funds provided by local transportation tax measure dollars.
Schedule
The project completed construction in August 2017
