Figure 1 - Proposed Trail Location

Project Description

Construct a new asphalt concrete 12-foot-wide Class I Bicycle Facility adjacent to northbound Interstate 5, south of Pocket Road/Meadowview Road and east of Freeport Boulevard. The trail will connect Freeport Shores Bike Trail to the North Delta Shores Bike Trail.

Benefits

This project will eliminate a significant barrier created by Interstate 5. The new trail will provide a key link in the planned South Sacramento Parkway, which was envisioned as a bicycle/pedestrian corridor connecting the Sacramento River Parkway to the southwest corner of the City and the City of Elk Grove then connecting to the Sacramento River Parkway and the Central City via the Del Rio Trail.

Cost and Funding

The estimated total project cost is $914,000. Funding is provided by CMAQ funds and local Bikeway Program funds from the City of Sacramento.

Schedule

The project is currently in design. Construction is currently proposed in the Summer of 2021.
