WEST EL CAMINO AVENUE REHABILITATION PROJECT

Project Description

The segment of West El Camino Avenue from Truxel Road to Northgate Boulevard was identified as a street with an opportunity to incorporate active transportation and safety improvements. The project will include microsurfacing and base repair over the entire project scope, traffic signal improvements, and buffered Class II bike lanes. Pedestrian lights and crossing enhancements will be installed at the proposed pedestrian crossing connecting the Ninos Parkway Trail.

Benefits

This project will:

  • Add a pedestrian refuge island with high visibility pavement markings and pedestrian lighting at the Niños Parkway Trail crossing.
  • Restripe travel lanes to add buffered Class II bike lanes and improve bicycle connectivity
  • Add green bike lane conflict markings at Truxel Road and Stone Creek Drive
  • Improve traffic signals at all intersections with video detection and closed-circuit TV (CCTV)

Cost and Funding

This project was funded by SB-1 RMRA Funds. The total project cost is $2.8 million.

Schedule

Construction will begin in October 2022 and continue through Spring 2023.
