Pavement Maintenance & Preservation
Pavement maintenance and preservation provides maximum benefit to the traveling public by enhancing safety and driving conditions as well as improving ride comfort and aesthetics of the roadway. This proactive maintenance is accomplished using available funds in the most efficient way by utilizing a variety of road surfacing techniques.
Each year, one-third of the city streets are examined on a rotational basis to update the Pavement Management Application (PMA) for determining the right treatment on the right street at the right time. The City uses this information to update the five-year resurfacing plan to keep the existing road infrastructure operating at a satisfactory level of service. Information about which streets are included in the resurfacing program is shown on the five-year resurfacing plan.
The City has recently begun proactively helping to maintain alleys. Learn more about the maintenance services that are provided for different types of alleys.
