Emergency Permits

Emergency permits allow commercial vehicles to be parked in an alley for as long as the job takes to complete. The permit is typically used by vehicles from companies such as heating/air conditioning repair, computer, elevator repair service, fire alarm service, plumbing and electrical service. In short, any service that absolutely needs to be provided for the health and well-being of people being affected by the problem. Commercial vehicles must have the company name on the vehicle.

Permit Eligibility

Applicants must meet criteria to be eligible to purchase an Emergency Permit in addition to submitting the documentation required for the Emergency Permit Application:

  1. A current Business Operation Tax Certificate from the City of Sacramento must be provided as proof to meet the City’s requirements to conduct business and perform work within the city limits.

  2. Applications submitted for non-commercial vehicles are reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Please note that the above are criteria to determine eligibility only. Each application is subject to a review. Submitting an application does not guarantee issuance of a permit. The applicant will be notified if the application is accepted or denied.

Applicants who do not meet the above criteria or who only have one job location may need to submit a Meter & Parking Space Reservation Request instead.

Cost

The fee is $70.00 per permit, per year, fee not prorated. All permits expire June 30.
