Street Sweeping

The Recycling and Solid Waste Division sweeps more than 15,000 miles of public right-away every year. Street sweeping not only keeps streets looking neat, it also prevents debris from entering storm drains, causing street flooding and damage to our waterways.

Frequency of Service

City streets are currently swept approximately every six weeks from February through October, with service increasing to once every four weeks as of winter 2021. In the Downtown-Midtown area, where parking restrictions are in place, and as part of storm water runoff permits, sweeping occurs once a month February through October.  During Leaf Season in November, December and January, street sweeping staff assist with leaf collection.

Online Sweeping Calendar

The City's collection calendar includes street sweeping days for each service address. Customers can also register to receive a text or email reminder the day before sweeping service occurs. Calendars are specific for each customer's address. For duplex's to fourplexes, the unit that is the utility billing address is the one tied to the calendar.

Billing Information

Street sweeping rates are for quarterly - or four-times-a-year service. The cost for street sweeping is spread over twelve months and appears monthly on your combined utility bill (water, garbage, sewer).
