 J Street Project Cross Section

The J Street Safety Project is designed to calm traffic, improve pedestrian crossings, provide parking protected bikeways, and make the street more inviting for travel and as well as spending time on the corridor. A new parking-separated bikeway will be added to the street.

What is a parking protected bikeway? These bikeways will allow people of all ages and levels to bike the grid, separated from moving traffic. Travel lanes will be reduced from 3 to 2, encouraging slower vehicle speeds, decreasing pedestrian crossing lengths, and improving corridor safety.

Transit: Sacramento Regional Transit (Sac RT) Bus Route 30 will consolidate stops.

Upgraded parking meters! Parking meters along the parking-separated bikeway will be replaced with the new Pay-by-Plate technology, simply enter the license plate number, insert payment, and follow prompts on the screen. No need to return to your car and display the receipt. As always, customers may use the Parkmobile app.
