City of Sacramento Stormwater Quality Improvement Program

The City of Sacramento Stormwater Quality Improvement Program is a comprehensive program comprised of various program elements and activities designed to reduce stormwater pollution to Maximum Extent Practicable (MEP) and eliminate prohibited non-stormwater discharges through a National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) municipal stormwater discharge permit.
The Stormwater Quality Improvement Program is a partner in the larger Sacramento Stormwater Quality Partnership that covers the Sacramento county area including the Cities of Citrus Heights, Elk Grove, Folsom, Galt, and Rancho Cordova.

The City of Sacramento Department of Utilities and California State University, Sacramento work together to implement low impact development measures (LID) on the Sacramento State campus. This project reduces stormwater volumes and decreases pollutants discharged into the American River. Since its implementation, the Sacramento State LID project has won two awards!
