
REGISTERING YOUR RENTAL PROPERTY
Property owners with rental properties located within the Sacramento city limits and, subject to the Tenant Protection and Relief Act (TPRA), will receive a “Rental Property Registry” packet by mail.
Property owners who have multiple rental properties subject to the TPRA must complete a Rental Property Registry for each property. Please review the “Online Rental Property Registry Renewal” section to see if you meet the requirements to register online. If you do not meet the requirements to register online, return the registration documents to the Tenant Protection Program by mail, email, fax.

ONLINE PAYMENT OF PROGRAM FEES IS NOW AVAILABLE. TO SUBMIT AN ONLINE PAYMENT, PLEASE FOLLOW THE INSTRUCTIONS ON YOUR INVOICE.
Online Rental Property Registry Renewal
Online rental property registry renewal is now available if you meet the following criteria:
- Previously registered with the Tenant Protection Program
- No corrections are required on the Rental Property Registry Form
- Rental units are not exempt
Submitting the online registration provides confirmation to the Tenant Protection Program that the information reflected on your Rental Property Registry form, which you received in the mail, is correct.

If you register online, please do not mail, email, or fax your renewal form, as this will delay processing of your registration.
Rental Property Registry Renewals with Corrections or Exemption Requests

How to correct the information on the Rental Property Registry form:

Check the box “Registration Annual Renewal” on the Rental Property Registry form you received in the mail.

DO NOT make any changes on the Rental Property Registry form.

Please sign and date the Rental Property Registry and complete the Correction form.

Sign and date the Correction form.

Return the Rental Property Registry and the Correction form to the Tenant Protection Program by mail, email, or fax.
How to file an Exemption Request:

Check the box “Registration Annual Renewal” on the Rental Property Registry form you received in the mail.

DO NOT make any changes on the Rental Property Registry form.

Please sign and date the Rental Property Registry and complete the Exemption Request form.

Sign and date the Exemption Request form.

Return the Rental Property Registry and the Exemption Request form to the Tenant Protection Program by mail, email, or fax.
If you need to make corrections to the information contained on the Rental Property Registry form and file an Exemption Request, please follow the steps above regarding corrections and exemptions and return all documents (Rental Property Registry, Correction, and Exemption Request forms) to the Tenant Protection Program by mail, fax, or email. Please sign and date ALL forms submitted to our office.
New Property Owners - Steps for Registering your Property

If all of the information on the Rental Property Registry form is correct, sign, date, and return the form to the Tenant Protection Program by mail, email, or fax.
